Greek government decided to improve its economy using Azerbaijani gas
Greece would like to have a share in the trans-Adriatic gas pipeline (TAP), increase annual fee for gas transit and reduce price of gas imported from Azerbaijan, wrote Greek media quoting the source from the Greek Ministry of Energy.
Yesterday Greek Energy Minister Panayotis Lafazanis arrived in Baku to attend the first session of the Consultative Council of the South Gas Corridor.
On February12, 2015 he met with President Ilham Aliyev and partners of the consortium of the companies building TAP to discuss demands of the new Greek government.
The fate of the DESFA – Greek national gas distribution company – will be another subject of discussion of Greek Minister in Baku. The new Greek government is opposed to the agreement on purchase of DESFA by Azerbaijan.
Sources from the government said that Greece is ready to sell over 49% share of the company, but not 66% as it was agreed earlier.
