Imports of Motor Vehicles Plummet
In the first four months of this year Azerbaijan was delivered 12,890 vehicles, which is 13,842 less than in the comparable period of 2014.
During the mentioned period purchased from abroad were 11,740 passenger cars, which were 12,153 less than in the same period last year.
Experts attribute the decline in the number of imported cars to the increase in excise taxes on imports as well as the general socio-economic situation in the country.
Since the beginning of the year 393 buses, 645 trucks, and 112 special purpose vehicles have been purchased.
Recall that in 2012, Azerbaijan was delivered 101,255 vehicles (89,652 of them - cars), in 2013 – 104,385 (94,879), and in 2014 – 63,368 (57,615). ----08D
