In 2014 23% export of Azerbaijani oil fell to Italy
Last year total volume of Azerbaijani oil export to the world markets reached 35.2 million tons. Adil Abyshev, Manager of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) Department for Marketing and Economic Operations, said in his speech at the Oil & Gas Transport and Trade Conference in Baku at the end of last week.
“Of the above mentioned volume 24.5 million tons fell to SOCAR’s oil export. Therefore, SOCAR’s share in the total volume of Azerbaijani oil export constitutes about 70%,” he added.
Money from sale of this oil just partially belongs to SOCAR. Majority of the sold oil is share of the government in the production sharing agreement (PSA). SOCAR is in charge of sale of this oil. At present 82% of total volume of Azerbaijani oil export falls to the oil deliveries via the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) oil pipeline, 12% - to the Baku-Supsa oil pipeline, 3% - to the Baku-Novorossiysk oil pipeline and 3% to the Baku-Batumi railway.
“Azerbaijani oil is delivered to almost 30 world countries. The geography of deliveries is constantly expanded. Thus, several years ago only 10-15% of Azerbaijani oil was delivered to the countries of the Mediterranean region, now this index has reached 40-45%. The biggest importers of Azerbaijani oil in Europe are Italy, France and Germany,” Abyshev added. In 2014 23% of total volume of Azerbaijani oil export fell to the share of Italy.
Export of Azerbaijani energy resources to Asia has grown as well. “Export of SOCAR’s oil products to Afghanistan and Middle Asian countries is still high. 20% of total export of SOCAR’s oil products falls to the Asian region. The volume of deliveries of oil products to Georgia has also increased and now 12% of total volume of oil products export of SOCAR falls to its share,” Abyshev said.—0—
