In August, the average price of consumer basket on 30 types of basic foodstuffs composed by the agency Turan grew by 2.5%.
June and July were marked by a slight increase by 0.10%, while in May it was 3.6%.
Last month, most of all rose tomatoes (+ 60%), potatoes (+ 33.3%), sugar (+ 26.6%), onions (25%), corn oil (+ 18.3%), margarine (+ 18.2%), first-grade flour (+ 18.2%), cabbages (+ 16.6%), pasta (+ 13.3%), butter (12.8%), yogurt (+ 11.5%), eggs (9%) and white cheese (2%).
Buckwheat (-9%) and chicken giblets (-5.5%) fell.
For other types of products such as beef, lamb, chicken, milk and so on, prices did not change.
The July forecast of a possible rise in prices thus was confirmed. The forecast was based on the change of the traditional summer deflation by inflation under the influence of the reduction in production of seasonal products - tomatoes, cucumbers, eggplants and so on.
A negative impact on the market is still imposed by monopolists, speculators and bribed public officials at all stages of product promotion. -0-
