Milkmen’s Summit to Be Held in Baku Tomorrow
Tomorrow in Baku, Jumeirah Bilgah Hotel will start the IV Summer Dairy Summit and the II International Cheese Forum. The purpose of these activities is to develop and strengthen trade and economic relations, science and so on relations between breeders and processors of milk in different countries.
The annual meeting of the dairymen, which will end on May 26, will bring together representatives of over 100 companies of producers and processors of milk from the CIS countries, the European Union and other states, the Ministry of Agriculture of Azerbaijan told Turan.
The initiator of the summit is the Russian Ministry of Agriculture and the Committee on Agrarian Issues of the State Duma of the Russian Federation. Previously, such activities were also conducted in Israel, Lithuania and other countries. In 2017, it will be hosted by Georgia.
Despite the increase in production capacity, the demand for dairy products in Azerbaijan is met at 80% by the domestic production. In the first quarter of 2016, 6,718 tons of dairy products were imported, including butter totaling 17 million 371.6 thousand US dollars. Exports of dairy products during the period amounted to 197 tons ($ 311 thousand). ----08B
