MUNICIPAL COUNCILS RECEIVE LOW INCOMES
The incomes mainly came from the following sources:
- land tax - AZN 2.53 million;
- property tax - AZN 1.25 million;
- building material extraction tax - AZN 283,000;
- street poster duties - AZN 110,000;
- hotel duties - AZN 76,200;
- sale and lease of municipal lands - AZN 5.3 million.
The state subsidies given to municipal councils were AZN 2.5 million instead of the expected AZN 4.47 million.
Juridical and physical persons provided financial aid of AZN 282,000 to the municipal councils.
The councils spent AZN 6.3 million (52.7%) of their incomes on running their administrations. They spent AZN 3 million on housing/utilities and AZN 1.45 million on local roads" repair.
The Baku municipal councils (52) collected AZN 2.65 million. The indexes were AZN 1.35 million for the Absheron district"s 15 municipal councils AZN 1.05 million for the Shabran district"s 15 municipal councils, etc.
The Azerbaijani municipal councils had incomes of AZN 26.7 million in 2009. This was -39% against the index of 2008. The state subsidies were AZN 3.35 million.--08B-
