Nabucco cannot beat TAP in commercial aspect
We believe that at the end of June 2013 the Shah-Deniz consortium will make a decision in favor of Nabucco, because we have offered the best conditions, Reinhard Mitcek, Nabucco Executive Director, told journalists in Baku.
He said "if the Shah-Deniz consortium chooses Nabucco West, then we are going to start preparation in 2014, then start construction in 2015 and import gas in early 2019."
Mitcek said that by 2030 demand of the transit countries of Nabucco West in gas will total 43 billion cub.m. Together with the neighboring countries demand in gas will increase up to 246 billion cub.m. Mitcek added that considering this forecast, Nabucco West will be able to satisfy 8-10% demand of the European countries in gas.
"Our goal is not to fully meet demand of the gas market, but to develop it," Mitcek added.
He also added that the project will allow to export gas not only to the countries, through which the Nabucco-West route lies, but also to the Balkan countries, Slovakia, Czech republic, Poland, France, Germany, Ukraine and etc."
The reliable sources told Turan that the Nabucco-West has some advantages over the trans-Adriatic pipeline (TAP). However, these advantages did not allow then Nabucco-West to lead in the "struggle between the pipelines." All the issues related to costs for the pipeline construction and transit have been solved. The gas importing price (gas price formula) remains a question for the companies. Therefore, in the coming two weeks the Shah-Deniz experts will be negotiating this issue.-0-
