Nakhchivan Moving towards New ICT Technologies
The Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic in the near future plans to carry fiber optic cable to every apartment and provide the consumers with Bandwidth up to 2.5 Gbit / s, which is a hundred times more than the ability to access ADSL.
According to the local Ministry of Communications (site http://ritn.nakhchivan.az/news.php?sec=0090), they have launched a project "Optics in every home." Implementation of technology GPON (Giga Bit Passive Optical Network) ensure the provision of services over a single fiber Triple-Play (Internet, telephony and IP-TV), which will allow only a single line through the optical branches in the same apartment building to provide services to 256 customers.
