New Privatization Auctions Announced
The State Committee on Property has announced a September 27 auction to sell 51 units of state property. Half of the objects include from 30% to 45% of the shares of previously privatized JSCs.
The SCP press service reports that privatization will regard 26 small enterprises and facilities located in Baku and regions of the country (Mingachevir, Dashkesan, Gabala, Khachmaz, Gakh, and Oguz). These companies operate in the fields of industry, construction, transport, catering, trade, etc.
It is noteworthy that SCP claims the evaluation of the objects offered for sale at market value. However, even with the naked eye one can see that the starting price of the objects is significantly lower than the market price. For example, a bakery in the village Gizildash of the Garadagh district of Baku with an area of 287.1 m2 (goo.gl/HEjHeH) is estimated at 19,000 AZN.
SCP emphasizes that the sale will be carried out transparently and invites the participation of all investors who wish that. Detailed information about the objects exhibited at the auction can be obtained from the website www.privatization.az/.
Recall that the first auction will be held on September 14 with respect to 48 plants and facilities. ----08B

Last week, Azerbaijani media reported an impending increase in retail bread prices, attributing the rise to an increase in product weight. The following day, an official notification confirmed that the government had no intentions of sanctioning a bread price hike in the country. However, the threat of a price increase for this staple food remains for another reason.
