Number of Tourists Visiting Azerbaijan Increased by 11.7%
In 2016, Azerbaijan was visited by 2 million 242 thousand 783 foreigners, which is 11.7% more than the number of tourists in 2015, according to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
The share of four countries (Russia, Georgia, Turkey and Iran) is 80.3% of all tourists for 2016.
According to the ministry, the number of tourists from Arab countries increased significantly. From Iraq to Azerbaijan arrived 30 times more tourists than in 2015, from the United Arab Emirates - 22 times, from Saudi Arabia and Oman - 10 times, from Qatar - 5.5 times, from Kuwait - 3.2 times, and from Jordan - 2 times.
Independent experts say that tourists from Georgia and Russia are in fact ethnic Azerbaijanis who visit their relatives.
According to Georgian sources, last year the country was visited by 6 million 350 thousand foreigners. The most active ones were the citizens of Azerbaijan. ----08D

Azerbaijani internet service providers Aztelekom and Baktelekom will introduce substantial changes to their pricing structure starting August 15, the companies announced today. Under the new tariffs, the minimum internet speed will rise to 100 Mbit/s, with the cost per Mbit/s decreasing from 0.45 AZN to 0.25 AZN. As a result, monthly charges will be set at 25 AZN for 100 Mbit/s, 30 AZN for 150 Mbit/s, and 36 AZN for 250 Mbit/s.
