Production of Building Materials Decreased
In the four months of this year the production of the main types of building materials significantly decreased in Azerbaijan. This is mainly due to decrease in funding from the state budget.
According to the State Statistics Committee, in January-April Azerbaijan made 600,000 tons of cement (-32.2%) and 53,300 tons of rebar (-42.1%).
Decline was recorded in the production of plaster (43.6 thousand tons, - 31%), concrete (118.8 thousand tons, - 67.1%), and bricks (56.5 thousand cubic meters, - 25.4%).
During the first quarter of this year Azerbaijan imported 53.5 thousand tons of cement and cement clinker totaling $ 3.2 million. During this period, it exported 29.6 thousand tons of cement clinker and gained $ 1 million 281 thousand.
In the first three months Azerbaijan exported 57.5 thousand tons of rolled steel in the amount of $ 10.2 million.
Building materials are exported by Gazakh Cement Plant and Baku Steel Company. ----08D

Azerbaijan's financial standing continues to strengthen as the country's foreign currency reserves have surged to $71 billion as of January 1, 2025, according to the Ministry of Finance. This figure, which includes reserves held by the State Oil Fund of Azerbaijan (SOFAZ) and the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA), far exceeds the nation's external debt, which stands at a fraction of its reserves, specifically nearly 14 times less. This robust reserve position reflects Azerbaijan's fiscal stability and the government’s strategic economic management.
