This week finished the filling of the rocket Ariane 5 (produced by the French company Arianspace) at Kourou (Guiana Space Centre), which will orbit Azerbaijani satellite Azerspace/Africasat-1.
According to officials of Azerkosmos, the satellite is at the launch site in the north-eastern part of South America (French Guiana). Launch will take place on the specified data, on the night of 7 to 8 February.
Before February 1 will be given in full technical readiness main satellite control center, located in the village Guzdek in the Garadagh district of the capital.
Already completed is construction of a backup satellite control center in the village Nahyadzhir in the Julfa district of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.
The satellite will be launched into a geostationary orbit at 46 degrees east longitude, leased from Malaysia's Measat Satellite Systems, owned by the Government of Malaysia. In the service area will Azerspace Eastern Europe, the Caucasus, Central Asia and North Africa.
Manufacturer of Azerspace is the company Orbital Sciences Corporation (USA). The satellite is designed to provide digital broadcasting, Internet access, data transmission, creation of multi-service networks VSAT, as well as for government communications. - 17D-
