Seventeen Thousand Tons of Cotton Gathered for Twenty Days
As of October 31 Azerbaijan collected 44,000 tons of raw cotton, which is 17,000 tons or 60% more than in the same period last year.
According to the committee, only in the last 20 days the ginneries bought 17,000 tons of cotton from farmers.
This year, cotton was planted in Azerbaijan on 52,000 ha. The yield is 8.46 t / ha.
Cotton harvest will continue in November. Today, on November 1, the Minister of Agriculture Heydar Asadov said in his article on the Day of Agriculture Workers this year the volume of the harvest will increase in comparison with 2015 three times, and will be 100,000 tons. He stressed that on the instructions of the Head of State, in 2017 the area under cotton will reach 100-120 thousand ha and 250,000 tons of cotton will be collected.
