State to Purchase Fifty Hectares from Landowners for Railway under Construction
The Cabinet of Ministers decided (12 May, №193) on procurement of 50.44 hectares of land in the Astara region for the state needs. These lands will be set aside for the construction of the railway line from Azerbaijan to Iran.
The main part of the land (41.3 ha) is privately owned. Three municipalities own 8.53 hectares. The state controls 0.61 hectares of these lands. The government has given the right to purchase these lands to CJSC Azerbaijani Railways.
Under the law, the owners should be paid compensation in accordance with the market value of the property.
The foundation of a railway bridge over the river Astara has been laid recently. It will connect the railway lines of Azerbaijan and Iran in the framework of the North-South international transport corridor project. ------08D
