Tariff Council Reviews Decision on Wholesale Price of Water
The Tariff (Price) Council changed its mind on the wholesale price for the supply of water for the water utilities of the Samur-Absheron. In fact, members of the Tariff Council agreed that the decision on the liquidation of the wholesale tariff for supply management operation of the Samur-Absheron water channel (UEVSA) May 13, 2016 was a rash step.
On June 30, the Tariff Council restored the former wholesale tariff for the supply of 1,000 cubic meters of water from UEVSA to JSC Irrigation and Water Management, which is AZN 20 without VAT. The decision is justified by the need of the organization for the appropriate level of exploitation of reservoirs and canals.
It is noteworthy that there was not any actual justification of the decision of 13 May 2016 on the elimination of the decision of the Tariff Council of 27 July 2007 on the establishment of tariffs for wholesale water sales.
by JSC Azersu. It is noteworthy that in the decision of May 13, the position of JSC Irrigation and Water Management was not even asked.
The decision notes that the tariff will be valid until 1 October. At the same time the decision of the Tariff Council of 30 June implies that «the organizational and legal measures are continued in the direction of defining the rules of paid use of water bodies."
Neither JSC Azersu, nor the Tariff Council commented on the latest TC decisions.
A source in the JSC Irrigation and Water Management told Turan the Office of the Samur-Absheron water channel is a self-supporting organization. The channel length is over 200 km. ----08D
