Government Reported Completion of Drug Prices Regulation
The Tariff (Price) Council on 30 June approved the prices for 2,557 drugs. Thus, the state finished the regulation of prices for 9,632 drugs (including dosage, the amount of packaging, country of origin, etc.), or 99% of medicines passed the state registration.
As the press service of the Ministry of Economy said, 7,300 drugs are released for sale at prices approved by the Tariff Council, and on September 1, rates will be valid for another 2,332 drugs.
Overall, 90% of drug prices are lower than before the state regulation in July 2015. At the same time according to the Tariff Council, 29% of the price of drugs decreased more than 2 times, 11% - by 3 times.
However, the public does not fully agree with such information, noting that in fact drug prices do not decrease, and even increase. E.g., Hamid Rahimov from Baku said he had previously bought Karum Sanovel (medicine for cardiovascular diseases) at 25 AZN per pill, but it is now sold at 9 AZN. But Teymur Hajiyev from Sumgait last year bought Triplixam tablets (lowers blood pressure) for 12 AZN. After adjustment it is sold in retail for 26 AZN 42 gepiks. Sanan Atayev uses pills Kamagra (improves erection). These tablets rose from 1.50 to 1.71 AZN. ------ 08B
