The Asian Development Bank to Help Azerbaijan in Biomass
Part of alternative energy projects in Azerbaijan will be financed by the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
As stated in the press release of this international structure, decided to support the production of biomass in Oguz and Aghjabadi areas of the country that will take up to $ 40 million in the medium term.
The plans of the State Agency for Alternative and Renewable Energy Sources include the construction of two plants with a capacity of 16 megawatts for electricity and heating.
Eligible consultants approved a technical assistance project, funded will open in June of this, and will continue until April 2014, and the final conference it is planned for May next year.
According to the ADB, as a result of the project about 95 million cubic meters of natural gas per year will be saved for export, thereby increasing the income of the local government at least $ 5.6 million a year. The project will also cut emissions of greenhouse gases in the amount of 24 thousand tons of carbon dioxide (CO2) per year. The project has the potential to expand in two agricultural areas (Oguz and Agdjabedi) and for replication in other regions of the country with similar resources and conditions.

Azerbaijani internet service providers Aztelekom and Baktelekom will introduce substantial changes to their pricing structure starting August 15, the companies announced today. Under the new tariffs, the minimum internet speed will rise to 100 Mbit/s, with the cost per Mbit/s decreasing from 0.45 AZN to 0.25 AZN.
