Turkey is waiting for a new stage of privatization in Azerbaijan
A new round of intensification of Turkish investments in Azerbaijan is expected after the announcement of the list of enterprises to be privatized. This was stated today at the Turkish Embassy in Baku by the Chairman of the Council of Foreign Economic Relations of Turkey (DEIK) Seljuk Acar.
On August 4, a delegation of Turkish business headed by Ambassador Ismail Alper Coşkun met with Deputy Prime Minister Abid Sharifov and Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan on Economic Reforms Minister Natig Amirov. "Turkey is ready to support Azerbaijan in the way of economic reform, to develop bilateral trade and economic ties and investment plans of entrepreneurs," the Ambassador said.
Responding to Turan’s question about the behavior of Azeri investors in Turkey in the aftermath of the failed military uprising on July 15, the ambassador said investors have shown confidence in the Turkish economy and outflows are not observed. "On the contrary, we see an increase in investment from Azerbaijan. This is the result of the stability of the Turkish economy to crises," the ambassador said.
The new head of the Baku office of the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) Adem Urfa said that cooperation with the Government of Azerbaijan in various sectors of the economy will continue the coming years. "In the 21 years of activity in Azerbaijan TIKA implemented 150 different projects. These projects benefited 7,000 people, who were able to improve the education, health, knowledge and skills, tourism, the environment, etc. We intend to explore the possibility of supporting Azerbaijan in its efforts to develop non-oil economy and develop the cooperation strategy for the next three years," he said.
According to the Ministry of Taxes, Azerbaijan has 1,685 companies with Turkish capital, whose investment in the economy is estimated at $ 7.5 billion. Approximately the same amount has been invested in the economy of Turkey by Azerbaijani investors, as well as on the part of SOCAR. ------08D
