United Nations approve the Eurasian communication alliance
The UN General Assembly adopted a resolution supporting Azerbaijan's initiative to establish Eurasian Connectivity Alliance – EuraCA, and the construction of the Trans-Eurasia Information Superhighway High (Trans-Eurasian Information Super Highway-TASIM.)
The purpose of the project is the construction of transnational fiber-optic line, covering Eurasian countries from western Europe to eastern Asia. The project envisages the creation of the main transit link from Frankfurt (Germany) to Hong Kong.
The network will bring together the major centers of information exchange in Europe and Asia. The transit line will run through China, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Turkey to Germany. The reserve Northern transit link will pass through Russia, Ukraine, and Poland.
On December 21, 2009 at the 64th plenary meeting of the General Assembly the United Nations Organization adopted a resolution on the creation of TASIM. The resolution , co-sponsored by the representatives of 30 countries, was adopted by consensus, and special role of the Azerbaijan Republic was noted. On December 21, 2012 the UN General Assembly adopted another resolution on the project.
Azerbaijan has launched the EuraCA initiative in August this year, the main objective of the alliance is the acceleration of the implementation of the project TASIM, which is one of the most important regional initiatives of Azerbaijan, with which the country has made in November 2008 in the framework of the exhibition of telecommunications and information technology Bakutel 2008. The exhibition Bakutel 2008 adopted a special declaration on the realization of the project. --17D—

Hundreds of trucks are stuck in the Kazakh port of Kuryk, facing delays for several days while waiting for ferry transport to Azerbaijan, the Azakhstan portal reports lada.kz. The backlog is due to a combination of reduced ferry availability, adverse weather conditions, and an influx of cargo rerouted because of expanded sanctions on Russia.

While the global economy faces persistent challenges, trade between China and Azerbaijan has defied downward trends, demonstrating significant growth. According to official statistics from Azerbaijan, bilateral trade in 2023 reached 3.1 billion US dollars. In just the first ten months of 2024, trade volume increased by 17.1% year-on-year, reaching 3.02 billion US dollars, putting the annual trade figure on track to hit a record high.
