During my 28 years of watching Turkish politics from the inside, I have never seen the US presidential election so closely watched by the ruling party, nor has it been seen that the media, which unconditionally supports the government, wants any candidate to be elected at the cost of their lives. It should be noted that until the autumn of 2007, there was no such thing as "unconditional support for the government."

When these lines were written, as the exact results were not known, it was doubtful that they would be accurate. Because, for example, the court ruled to recount the votes in the province of Georgia. Therefore, both while waiting for the final result and without waiting for it, let's focus on the question: "Why do the government and the media, which unconditionally supports the government, so eagerly want the re-election of the current US President?"

Turkey's economic situation has deteriorated as the current US president has kept his 2016 campaign promises one by one. For example, that policy, which also envisages the strengthening of the dollar against national currencies, began to have a more serious impact on the Turkish economy in the spring of 2018.

Turkey's S-400 missiles purchased from Russia to strengthen its air defense system have been another source of tension between the two countries. The issue had even reached the point that Turkey was included in the CATSAA sanctions list and removed from the F-35 program although the two countries have been allies in NATO since 1952.

Despite the sharp reaction of the United States again to the test of S-400 missiles in Sinop two weeks ago, regardless of the desire of the media, which unconditionally supports the government, this will continue whether the current president remains.

One of the negative steps taken against Turkey, during the current presidency, was the sending of 4,000 trucks of weapons to the region as part of the open support given to the terrorist organization in the north-eastern regions of Syria.

Despite all the warnings of Ankara, during the current presidency, this policy had not been taken a step back; on the contrary, it had intensified. So, on the eve of the November 3 elections and during the current vote count, why did the media, which is unconditionally under the control of the government, shield its body for the current president? Could it be a personal relationship? If so, what will happen if the current president fails to run for a second term? Will there be no cooperation with the new president? Will the government-run media not give the new US president a chance to breathe a sigh of relief? How not to cooperate with the new president: Will Turkey give up its market economy system? Or will it leave the NATO system and put the military industry on a 180-degree reverse rail? If the new president invites the Turkish president to his country, will he be rejected, or if he wants to come to Turkey, will he be shown another door? How to explain to those who perceive the 0.1% difference in provincial results as "the United States is collapsing" that this is a "deeper and more functional democracy"?

How can you explain to them that in a two-party system, a rating difference of 5% between the government and the opposition is a threat to the existence of the state, not a 0.1% difference? Ankara will not give up on Washington or Brussels as a result of the elections, as Turkey will not change its economic and military system. If Joe Biden is elected, Erdoğan will try to establish a close relationship with him.

And be sure that both the media and those commentators will praise Biden to the skies this time.
