Protocol with "water diplomacy" – Putin and Zhaparov brought their water to the summit in Astana
KazTAG – Russian President Vladimir Putin and the head of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Zhaparov brought their water to the summit in Astana, the agency's correspondent reports.
According to photos distributed by Akorda's press service on Thursday, almost all the leaders of the participating countries of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-building Measures in Asia (CICA) at the organization's summit in Astana were served Turan water, but two presidents made an exception to the protocol.
In particular, the President of Russia preferred Kazakh water – French Evian, which, probably, anti-Russian sanctions did not apply and Putin prefers a European product.
Zhaparov, in turn, preferred another water – judging by the photo, it is Tien-Shan Legeng ("Legends of the Tien Shan"), which is produced in Kyrgyzstan.
All the other guests, including the deputy head of China Wang Qishan, the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, as well as Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan, preferred Kazakh water.
The name of the Kazakh water is also noteworthy – Turan – which is also the common name of the entire Turkic world, and the leaders of the Turkic countries at the CICA summit in Astana are the majority. Thus, it can be summarized that from the point of view of protocol diplomacy, the water proposed by Kazakhstan reflects the ideas of Turan at one of the most important summits.
