Президент России Владимир Путин на совещании Совета безопасности
Putin approved a new Concept of Russia's foreign policy
kommersant: Russian President Vladimir Putin announced at a meeting of the Security Council that he had signed a decree on a new foreign policy concept. Vladimir Putin called the concept a "balanced document" that "will form the basis of our practical actions in the medium and longer term."
"Russia defines itself as a bulwark of the Russian world and an original country-civilization that maintains a global balance," the concept says. Vladimir Putin has repeatedly called Russia a "civilization country."
Other theses of the concept:
*Russia does not consider itself an enemy of the West and is not isolated from it;
*Priorities of Russia's humanitarian policy — countering Russophobia;
*Russia considers Islamic civilization friendly and will strengthen comprehensive mutually beneficial cooperation with it, as well as with China, India and Latin American countries;
*Russia stands for the consolidation of international efforts aimed at ensuring respect and protection of universal and traditional spiritual and moral values;
*Russia can use its armed forces to repel and prevent an armed attack on itself and its allies;
*Russia's flagship project in the XXI century is the transformation of Eurasia into a single continental space of the world;
*In the updated document, the United States is called the main conductor of the anti-Russian line;
*Threats to Russia's security from "unfriendly" countries are recognized as "existential" in the concept.
Russia's first interest in foreign policy is the protection of the constitutional order and territorial integrity, as well as the development of a secure information space, and the preservation of the people of Russia.
Among the national tasks of Russia in foreign policy are the maintenance of international peace and security, the formation of good neighborliness with neighboring states, strengthening positions in the world economy.
For the first time, the concept of Russia's foreign policy was approved in 1993, after which it was repeatedly updated. Among the tasks of Russian foreign policy in the 2016 concept are "preserving and strengthening strong positions in the world community", as well as "forming good-neighborly relations with neighboring states". The President discussed updating the concept with members of the Security Council on January 28, 2022.
