In November in Baku, the average prices of the consumer basket on 30 kinds of basic food products of domestic production, drawn up by the agency Turan, increased by 3.4%.
Thus, the third consecutive month prices continued to move up. In October, prices increased by 2.2%, in September - by 2.4%, in August – by 3%, in July - by 1.4%, a decline of 1.04% was observed in June, in May – 2.8%, and in April - 2.85%. The decline was due to the release of seasonal agricultural production to the market.
The prices sharply increased for cucumbers (+ 150%) and apples (+ 66%), followed by sugar (+ 16.6%), lamb (+ 11.1%), butter (+ 6.1%), beef (+ 5.5%), and chicken (+ 3%). The prices got cheaper for onions (-28.5%) and tomatoes (-32%).
For other products the prices changed slightly or remained stable.
Due to the sharp decline in the market of seasonal products in October and an increase of customs duties on imports from 1 November, as expected, the increase in food prices was recorded. An even greater increase in prices is constrained by low purchasing power, which continues to fall due to the ongoing recession, the rising unemployment and the falling manat.
