Prices for construction materials rose by 1.4% in July.
The rise included fittings (+ 2.8%), asbestos slate (+ 3.1%), roofing metal (+ 2.5%), metal ceramics (+ 2.8%), glass 4 mm (+ 6.2%) , glass 6 mm (+ 9.5%), and tonal glass (from +4.5% to +12.5%).
For other building materials the prices remained unchanged.
In June, prices rose by 2.3%, in May - by 0.78%, in April - by 4.3%, and in March - by 2%. In February, prices decreased by 8.5%. In January, they were stable. In December, prices rose by 19.2%. It was the most noticeable jump in prices for 2015. Before that, building materials fell significantly in November - by 8.6%. In October, the average price in Baku decreased by 0.5%. The indexes for the previous months were as follows: September (- 0.027%), August (-1.75%), July (+ 0.32%), June (-0.27%), May (+ 0.45%), and April (- 0.1%).
Experts point out the practical stagnation of prices of most materials in the individual construction season meant the remaining crisis in the economy. As Turan previously noted, in the fall we should expect lower prices for construction materials in connection with the completion of the season, and mainly due to the fall in the purchasing power of the population.

Markets Review

In August 2024 in Baku, average prices of the consumer basket (CB) for 30 types of basic food products of domestic production, compiled by Turan agency, rose by 0.6%.

In August 2024, the situation with lending in 4 banks changed in Azerbaijan. Banks have revised interest rates on consumer loans in manats. Thus, Bank Avrasiya has increased the annual interest rate on mortgage loans (real estate collateral) from 12% to 12-14%.

In August 2024, the situation regarding deposit acceptance changed in one bank in Azerbaijan. Specifically, Access Bank increased its annual interest rate on classic deposits in manat from 9-9.5% to 9.5-10% for a one-year term. In the remaining 21 banks, deposit interest rates remained stable last month. The tables below show: Table 1 displays the annual interest rates for classic deposits, and Table 2 shows the rates for savings deposits.
