A conference of Palestinian ambassadors in Asian countries held in Baku
Baku/05.11.18/Turan: According to the information of the Foreign Ministry distributed on November 5, on this day, the Conference of Palestinian Ambassadors in Asian countries was held in Baku. The event was attended by Palestinian Foreign Minister Riad Maliki, Palestinian Deputy Foreign Minister for Asia, Africa and Australia Mazen Samiyah, head of the Palestinian National Foundation - Nazir Mouin Elias Yousef Khouri. In addition, 27 Palestinian ambassadors accredited to Asian countries arrived in Azerbaijan to attend the conference.
Speaking at the conference, Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov expressed satisfaction that Baku offered hospitality to Palestinian diplomats.
The Minister declared Azerbaijan"s support for the Palestinian issue, whose capital East Jerusalem considers: In the difficult days of Palestine, Azerbaijan has always been with the Palestinian people, while remaining committed to Islamic solidarity.
It was noted that Azerbaijan in October had provided financial support in the amount of 200 thousand dollars to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Middle East.
Elmar Mammadyarov told the participants about the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, also informing about the activities of Azerbaijan in the framework of the Organization of the Islamic Conference. Palestinian Foreign Minister Riad Maliki thanked Azerbaijan for supporting the Palestinian people in the struggle for peace. The Palestinian-Israeli conflict arose in 1948 and is considered one of the longest-running conflicts. Both sides claim Jerusalem, which currently controls Israel completely. Despite the numerous resolutions adopted by the UN Security Council, the parties do not observe them. The United States and a number of other countries have recognized Jerusalem as the undivided capital of Israel. -0--
