Ali Akhmedov: The fate of Asia should not be solved by non-regional forces
The seventeenth meeting of the International Conference of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP) began working on Friday in Baku. The conference attendees include representatives from the leading pro-government political parties of Asia.
According to Ali Akhmedov, the executive secretary of the ruling party "Yeni Azerbaijan", the conference should encourage cooperation between political forces in Asian countries.
"In one of the world's major regions, Asia, there is a need to improve and expand mutual cooperation. Crisis and economic development, war and peace, stability and instability, wealth and poverty, all occur in this region, and therefore, there is a great need for cooperation. Our forum must become the impetus for the formation of Asian unity," said Akhmedov. According to him, in spite of the existing development in the region, it has no influence on global processes.
"The fate of the region should be determined by the people living here. However, very often, the fate of the region is determined by states which have no relation to it," said Ali Akhmedov, but did not specify whom he meant.
He also noted that seventh session of the General Assembly of ICAPP will be held in Baku in November.-03C04-
