Alliance "Azerbaijan without political prisoners" calls for the release Tofig Yagublu
Public Alliance "Azerbaijan without political prisoners" called on the President Ilham Aliyev to release from detention deputy chairman of Musavat Party Tofig Yagublu. The appeal noted that Yagublu was arrested on trumped-up charges, he is a veteran of the Karabakh war and philanthropist who contributed to the formation of the country's independence, as well as a man, who has lost his daughter.
Taking it into account, the Alliance called for the head of state to release Yagublu from further imprisonment.
Tofig Yagublu was convicted on March 17, 2014 for five years in prison on charges of organizing riots in Ismayilli on 23-24 January 2013.
However, the court failed to prove his guilt. Yagublu recognized as a prisoner of conscience by the international human rights organization Amnesty International. On April 24, he was released for seven days to attend the funeral of his 25-year-old daughter Nargis who died of illness.-0-
