Azer Gasimov Refutes The Guardian
Baku / 22.12.18 / Turan: The Press Secretary of the President of Azerbaijan, Azer Gasimov, denied the allegations made in a publication in the British newspaper The Guardian about alleged involvement of family members of Ilham Aliyev in money laundering operations.
"I can only say one thing: the information published in the newspaper The Guardian about the members of the President"s family is a complete lie, fiction and slander," BBC News Azerbaijani Service quotes Gasimov.
"Similar publications also appeared previously, but they were never confirmed," said Gasimov.
In his opinion, "these publications are nothing more than provocation, slander and a verbal campaign against Azerbaijan." "This is nothing but pressure on Azerbaijan, while it is strengthening its relations with its neighbors," said Gasimov.
He said he refrains from other comments in addition to what has been said.
According to The Guardian, the daughters of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev were most likely involved in actions that could potentially be related to money laundering, which has been confirmed by a British court. The suspicions of investigators were attracted by the attempt of Leyla and Arzu Aliyevs to buy luxury property in London worth 60 million pounds, said the newspaper two days ago.-06D--
