Azerbaijan introduces electronic visa
Yesterday the President of Azerbaijan signed a decree on the measures on visas for foreigners and persons without citizenship arriving in the country.
The Cabinet of Ministers is charged in a 10-day period to exclude the rules on taking fingerprints when issuing visas to foreigners and stateless persons from the information retrieval system of "entry-exit registration".
The Foreign Ministry is instructed to enforce previous orders stemming from the presidential decree of April 20, 2011. In addition, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the prescribed 10-day period is to set forms of electronic applications, a list of the required documents and information to obtain an electronic tourist visa on the websites of all the embassies and consulates of Azerbaijan. For the employees of diplomatic missions dealing with visas trainings on electronic visas will be provided.
The Ministries of Foreign Affairs and National Security are asked to organize the issuing of electronic visas in the embassies and consulates of Azerbaijan as soon as possible. The administration of President is entrusted with strict control over the execution of this order.
* E-visa is a new technology in the issuance of visas. The essence of this is advance electronic application to the migration service or a consulate of the country, with a further record in the database of the border services.
The technology was first applied in Australia. -06D-
