Azerbaijan Returns Body of Armenian Military Man
The body of an Armenian serviceman was handed over to the Armenian side on the front line on 20 April, the State Commission for Prisoners of War, Hostages and Missing Persons of Azerbaijan reported.
The event passed without incident, being organized by the State Commission and the Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan under the mediation of the International Committee of Red Cross (ICRC) and the OSCE.
The ICRC, in turn, said that the transfer took place in the village of Bash Garvand of the Agdam region.
The report gives a positive assessment to the efforts of the parties to clarify the fate of all who have been missing since the escalation in early April. "However, unlike the current situation, the families of more than 4,000 people, who went missing during the activity of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict in 1992-1994, are still unaware of their fate. Finding answers to these families is one of our priorities," the Regional Director of the ICRC for Europe and Central Asia Patrick Vial said. -06D--
