On April 22 Sheki Court will re-consider the complaints of I.Mammadov and T.Yagublu
The date of re-examination of the appeal of the leader of the REAL Movement Ilgar Mammadov, sentenced to seven years in prison became known. Hearing is scheduled in Sheki Court of Appeal on 22 April, said Javad Javadov, Mammadov’s lawyer. Despite the release of a pardon on the basis of another defendant in the case, deputy chairman of "Musavat" Tofig Yagublu, his appeal is still valid. His lawyer Nemat Karimli explained that the defense is seeking a full acquittal.
Mammadov and Yagublu were sentenced on charges of organizing riots in Ismayilli city in January 2013, and were sentenced to 7 and 5 years' imprisonment respectively. The European Court of Human Rights found a violation of their rights during the arrest, and took the decision to release them.
On October 13, 2015, the Supreme Court considered the appeal, sent the case for retrial in Sheki Appeal Court. After that the consideration of the case was delayed, and was finally appointed on 25 February. However, the hearing did not take place because of the "lack" in the Prison Service of transport for the delivery of the defendants in Sheki.
"Amnesty International" recognized Yagublu and Mammadov “prisoners of conscience.”- 06D--
