Azerbaijani Army Returns Soyudlu Gold Field
Baku /26.11.20/Turan: The Azerbaijani army is restoring its sovereignty over the Soyudlu gold deposit, which is in the Kelbajar region that was liberated from occupation. The Armenians have been illegally mining gold there since 2006.
As it was already reported, before the withdrawal of the occupation forces, the Armenian side installed a gate on the road five kilometers deep into the Azerbaijani territory from the field.
Today, the Azerbaijani military smashed the gate and entered the territory of the field and demanded the Armenians to release it.
According to the information of the Armenian News, about 250 Azerbaijani servicemen, including high-ranking ones, drove into the territory of the mine, where there were 7 conscripts, in Israeli armored vehicles, and said: this is our territory, so get out of here.
The soldiers tried to contact various responsible persons, but no one answered them. The management of the mine was forced to negotiate with the Azerbaijanis, while not knowing what to talk about. Attempts to contact the competent authorities failed.
With great difficulty, they managed to persuade the Azerbaijanis to give them time to understand what to do. The Azerbaijanis agreed, but promised to return tomorrow. “And let us not see you here anymore, otherwise you know what we will do,” they promised.
Deputy of the Armenian parliament Taguhi Tovmasyan spoke with the commander of the corps of the Armenian army stationed in Gegharkunik region, on the border with Kelbajar. The commander confirmed this information, saying that the enemy wants to move the gate closer to the territory of Armenia. The MP called it a shame, Sputnik Armenia reports.
"I honestly do not understand where the second or third side of the statement (about a truce - ed.) is. I just do not understand that. I call on the army to stand next to the residents of Gegharkunik and protect their safety," she said.
However, after that, the Armenian Defense Ministry issued a statement, which says that the information circulating in various media that the Azerbaijani military invaded the territory of the gold mine and demanded that the employees leave the territory does not correspond to reality.
The Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense, which is building up its military fist in Kelbajar, does not comment on the situation described by the Armenian side. —0—
