Baku, Ankara and Ashgabat strengthen trilateral cooperation (UPDATED)
Following the meeting in Baku Foreign Ministers of Azerbaijan, Turkey and Turkmenistan adopted a joint declaration. The Foreign Ministers of the three countries agreed to continue consultations within the UN, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and regional organizations.
Particularly was noted cooperation in the fight against terrorism , extremism, transnational organized crime , drug trafficking , human trafficking , illegal migration and trafficking in arms. The declaration reaffirms the commitments to expand ties in energy, trade, transport , culture and tourism , environmental protection.
The parties stressed the importance of energy and transport projects in Azerbaijan, Turkey and Turkmenistan , which enhanced cooperation will continue in the future.
The document stressed the importance of holding regular trilateral meetings in order to strengthen political dialogue, coordination and expansion of cooperation in regional and international issues. A tripartite meeting is to be held in mid- 2014 in Ashgabat. -16D04-

On Monday, 26th May, a meeting began in Baku between the foreign ministers of Azerbaijan, Turkey, and Turkmenistan.
During the meeting, the ministers will discuss the situation in the region, the status of the Caspian Sea and the cooperation in various fields, a diplomatic source said. Following the meeting, a press conference will be held by the three ministers.
It is of note, that the Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu, announced the creation of a tripartite Turkish-Azerbaijani-Turkmen format at the end of last year, as part of the twentieth meeting of the OSCE Ministerial Council. The details were not disclosed. There is no doubt that the main topic will be transportation of Turkmen gas to Europe via Azerbaijan and Turkey. At the same time, Baku and Ashgabat must resolve bilateral issues regarding the delimitation of the sea between the two countries, the fate of the disputed deposit Kapaz (Serdar) and the construction of the Trans-Caspian gas pipeline from Turkmenistan to Azerbaijan with a further connection to the system TANAP. -16D04-
