Case "Gyulyargeyt" us sent to court
Baku/26.09.13/Turan : The investigation into the case of ex-deputy Guler Ahmadova arrested on 13 February completed, and was sent to the Baku Serious Crimes Court. The trial will be chaired Alisultan Osmanov. According to court, the date of trial will be known soon.
Guler Ahmadova is accused under the Articles: 178.2 (fraud) and 307.2 ( deliberate concealment of the crime.) On both Articles she may be imprisonment for up to 12 years with confiscation of property.
The reason for the arrest was the video published by the former rector of the International University, Elshad Abdullayev. On these shots taken by a hidden camera, Ahmadova and her partner Babayeva extorted $1 million from Abdullayev for his election as the deputy.
The trial that has been called by Turan agency "Gyulyargeyt " (analogy with the famous scandal in the USA, costing chair for Nixon, ) promises to be loud . So, according to Elshad Abdullayev, money collected from the candidates were passed to the head of the Presidential Administration, Ramiz Mehdiyev.
It was he who made lists of future MPs who were to be "elected" to parliament. Guler Ahmadova was one of those who carried out this "great national task." -16D04-
