Civil Rights Defenders defend Emin Huseynov
International human rights organization Civil Rights Defenders called on the Azerbaijani authorities to drop charges against well-known Azerbaijani activist Emin Huseynov. The statement says that Huseynov was forced to seek asylum in the Embassy of Switzerland to escape the repression of the authorities. Civil Rights Defenders and other international human rights organizations believe that the charges against Huseynov of tax evasion, illegal entrepreneurship are politically motivated.
"Civil Rights Defenders urges the Azerbaijani authorities to immediately remove the false charges against Emin Huseynov and the Institute for Reporters Freedom and Safety," reads the statement. -06D-
