Civil society condemns the mistreatment of youth activists

More than 30 institutions of civil society in the country issued a statement of protest against human rights activists, youth Abulfaz Gurbanly, Turgut Gambar and Ilkin Rustamzade during their administrative detention.

Young activists were arrested for 10 days for participation in the rally in memory of the victims of terror in the Oil Academy April 30, 2013.

During the arrest the pictures of all three arrested were taken while they cleanup, and then the photos were placed on pro-government Internet sites that publish offensive comments. Thus, they tried to humiliate and make him give up his work.

The statement also noted that young activists are not allowed to  meet with lawyers, did not accept the  parcels  from relatives, and were  forcibly shaved head. All of this is regarded as inhuman treatment of detainees.

The statement authors are asking: how could  the photos of the arrested be placed in the Internet from a private institution?

This means that the leadership  of the  Binaqadi  jail and Penitentiary Service are involved in this dirty game, and are responsible for it, the statement said. -05D04-
