Daughter of Deputy Chairman of Musavat Arrested
Investigations into the car accident on Aug. 25 on the road Baku-Shamakhi, resulting in the death of a member of the Assembly of the party Musavat Aydin Adzhalov, brought criminal charges against Nigar Yagublu - daughter of the Deputy Chairman of the party Musavat Tofig Yagublu.
According to the Interior Ministry, August 25, at the 13th kilometer of the Baku-Shamakhi road a truck KAMAZ-5320, managed by a resident of Agjabedi Sadig Khalilov collided with a car brand Peugeot-206 belonging to Adzhalov. He was lost, and Yagublu suffered.
On the fact of a criminal case was filed under Article 263.2 (violation of driving a vehicle) of the Criminal Code.
According to the Interior Ministry, during the preliminary investigation, Yagublu said the car was driven by Adzhalov. However, investigators believe that the wheel was at Yagublu, who did not have a driver's license. According to the Interior Ministry, the fatal crash occurred on her fault.
On September 6 and 7 Yagublu was called to testify, but she shied away from the investigation.
On Monday, September 10, Nigar Yagublu in accordance with the Criminal Procedure Code was detained as a suspect. On the same day, the court arrested her for 2 months. In this case, nothing was reported on the fate of the driver of KAMAZ.
The father of the arrested denied that his daughter was hiding from the investigation. "We went to the police at every call," said Yagublu. He called the statement of the Ministry of Interior false and "revenge" for his opposition activities.
In addition, he said, the police violated his daughter's rights. On September 9 the court adjourned the case on remand; however, the police detained Nigar for a day.
Despite the fact that in such cases the accused are not arrested till the end of the trial, she was arrested without taking into consideration that she was injured.
Tofig Yagublu did not comment details of the accident: "I would not want to go into details. The lawyers are engaged in this," he said.
In turn, the lawyer Osman Kazimov said that now he is becoming familiar with the case and will comment later. -16B06-
