Discussions on Age Group 18+ in Parliament
Baku / 03.10.18 / Turan: In the near future, when broadcasting information "for adults" on TV, the designation of the age category of the program 18+ will be included.
Broadcasters will be required to do this during a television broadcast with a special badge, and with a special message on the radio.
These amendments are stipulated by the draft law "On the protection of children from harmful information", considered on October 3 in the second reading at a meeting of the parliamentary committee on human rights. This is stated in the press service of the Parliament.
The draft law "On the protection of children from harmful information" consists of 5 sections and 19 articles. It explains such concepts as getting information by children; data damaging the authority of the family institution; age classification of information products; demonstrations of violence and cruelty.
The third section of the project speaks about the designation of information and features of the designation of information. According to the project, advertising in programs for children, movies and videos and in children's periodicals has to comply with the children's age category.
MPs recommended the bill for consideration by the Milli Majlis. -0-

On November 26, the Baku Court of Appeals reviewed the appeal of human rights defender Anar Mammadli, who contested the extension of his detention. Mammadli's lawyer, Javad Javadov, stated that Mammadli argued the extension of his pre-trial detention was unfounded and linked the criminal prosecution to his human rights activities, Turan reported.

On November 26, the Baku Court of Appeals heard a complaint regarding the extension of the detention of former diplomat Emin Ibrahimov. During the hearing, the investigator requested that the complaint be rejected, while Ibrahimov's lawyer, Aghil Laidj, pointed out the lack of grounds for keeping Ibrahimov in custody.

Arrested economist Fazil Gasimov has reportedly faced pressure after protesting the interruption of a phone call with his family on November 16. "The phone call was cut off, and Fazil demanded that the connection be restored. Then, Jalal Alizadeh, a detention center officer, along with his colleagues, forcibly removed Fazil from the phone room in the medical unit of the facility, tearing his jacket and dragging him across the floor before throwing him into a cell.
