E.Abdullayev: Armenia is engaged in political speculations and self-deception
"The latest reasoning by Shavarsh Kocharian, put Yerevan in a ridiculous position," this is how spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, Elman Abdullayev, commented on the statements of the Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia, Shavarsh Kocharyan, on recognition of Nagorno-Karabakh by Yerevan.
Speaking in the Armenian parliament Kocharian called "inappropriate the recognition of Nagorno Karabakh's de jure" since Yerevan recognized "de facto" the separatist regime by signing 100 contracts with it. Kocharian again accused Azerbaijan of "destructive position ."
"Official Yerevan, which, thanks to its "smart" policy has led the country to the difficult situation, and has no moral right to teach other countries, especially Azerbaijan," said Abdullayev.
"Apparently, Armenia thinks it has aright to teach the OSCE Minsk, and point to this structure, in what direction it should direct its activities. I think that Yerevan should recover from amnesia and remember that the heads of the countries co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group noted repeatedly clearly and unambiguously the unacceptability of the status quo, that in fact , is a recognition of the international community, the fact of occupation of Azerbaijani territories by Armenia," said Abdullayev.
Then Elman Abdullayev focused on the fact that the main task of the OSCE Minsk Group is to promote the settlement of the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict on the basis of the norms and principles of international law in order to eliminate the consequences of aggression and military occupation , and of course we are committed to this process.
"In addition , the presidents of Azerbaijan and Armenia in 2008 signed the Moscow Declaration, which also states that the conflict should be resolved on the basis of the principles and norms of international law, a well as the resolutions and documents adopted by international organizations," said Abdullayev.
"Understanding the unacceptability of recognizing the independence of Nagorno -Karabakh to international community, Armenia deliberately uses political speculations and self-deception. Such an approach is detrimental to the peace process and the activities of the OSCE Minsk Group.
The occupied Nagorno-Karabakh region and seven surrounding regions are internationally recognized territories of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and the basis of the negotiation process is the restoration of the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Azerbaijan over the territories," summed Elman Abdullayev.–0--
