Elmar Mammadyarov Accepts Offer of Foreign Minister of France
The Karabakh settlement was discussed in Paris on November 17 at the meeting of the Foreign Ministers of Azerbaijan and France, Elmar Mammadyarov and Jean-Marc Eyraud.
According to the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry press service, the ministers noted the importance of continuing the negotiation process for the speedy achievement of a political settlement of the conflict.
Mammadyarov received the French proposal of a meeting of Foreign Ministers in the format of "3 + 2" (Foreign Ministers of Azerbaijan and Armenia and the OSCE Minsk Group - the US, France and Russia) in the framework of the OSCE Ministerial Council in Hamburg on December 8.
In addition, the ministers discussed the current state and prospects of the bilateral relations in political, economic and cultural spheres and in the sphere of education.
The ministers also welcomed the European Council decision to grant a mandate to the European Commission and the High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, to negotiate on behalf of the EU and its Member States on the issue of a comprehensive agreement with Azerbaijan.
Mammadyarov also met with the new Co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group from France Stephane Visconti. -06D--
