Employee of the SSC detained on suspicion of fraud
Baku/29.05.18/Turan: Officer of the Shirvan city department of the State Security Service (SSS) Rovshan Agayev detained on suspicion of fraud. According to the press service of the SSC, in February 2018, while trying to import from Iran smuggled 1565,5 gram heroin and 500 tablets of methadone and methamphetamine were detained Mehman Agarzayev and Nariman Sadygov. During the investigation, a resident of Shirvan Khayal Abdullayev was also detained. At his home were seized 258 tablets of potent pregabalin medication. During the investigation, Rovshan Agayev, a member of the SSS, received a large sum of money from his mother Khayal Abdullayev to resolve the issue of his release. On May 24, Abdullayev was missing and is on the wanted list. It was reported that for the above facts a criminal case was initiated, during which Agayev was dismissed from the SSS and arrested. Operative and investigative measures are being conducted to search for Abdullayev. -05D06-

Adalyat Verdiyev, the head of the civil defense staff at the public legal entity Center for Public Health and Reform under the Ministry of Health, and a military expert, has been arrested. On November 22, during a media tour to the liberated territories, Verdiyev filmed and published information and images on his social media accounts revealing Azerbaijani Armed Forces' combat positions in the heights, deployment sites, coordinates, and operational conditions of the border troops. This disclosure caused significant damage to the interests of state security and defense capability. This was stated in a report from the General Prosecutor’s Office.

On Monday, the Baku Appeals Court considered the appeal of Talysh researcher Iqbal Abilov against the extension of his detention for another four months. The defense argued that the decision to extend Abilov's detention was unjustified, lawyer Fariz Namazly told reporters.
