EU officials visited Hilal Mamedov"s family
Representatives of the European Union office in Baku visited the family members of the arrested human rights activist and editor of Tolyshi Sado (Voice of the Talysh) Hilal Mammadov. The news was reported by the Committee to Protect Mammadov.
The Department Head of the EU Delegation on Politics, Economics and Information Toralf Pilz said that the meeting was held on the recommendation of Brussels. According to him, the meeting also aims to demonstrate the EU's solidarity with Hilal Mammadov.
The EU representatives were interested in the health status, progress of the investigation and the conditions of Mammadov. The family presented certificates on Mammadov's health.
Hilal Mammadov was arrested in June and charged with illegal possession of narcotics, treason and inciting ethnic hatred. However, human rights activists believe the charges were fabricated to punish Mammadov for his human rights activities.
