Experts Do Not Expect Breakthrough from Meeting in St. Petersburg
The talks in St. Petersburg should give an answer to the basic question: peace or war? This is the opinion of the MP of Azerbaijan, expert Rasim Musabekov.
Commenting today's meeting of the Presidents of Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia for Turan, Musabekov said the negotiations will be very difficult.
"There is no special reason for optimism, as Armenia does not give up its aggressive policy. We will not give up a single inch of land," he said.
He called not accidental the conducting of large-scale exercises of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces simultaneously with the negotiations.
Neither Azerbaijan nor Armenia has withdrawn its troops from the front line after the April war, indicating the atmosphere that will prevail during the talks in St. Petersburg, Musabekov said.
From the upcoming talks in St. Petersburg we should not expect significant results. Most likely, it will be another formal meeting, the political analyst Arastun Orujlu said in turn.
Russia is not going to solve the Karabakh conflict, and uses it to achieve its own interests, he told Turan, commenting on the meeting in St. Petersburg.
These interests consist of putting pressure on the President of Armenia, which, according to Moscow, pursues not enough pro-Russian policy and rather tries to maneuver, which irritates the Kremlin.
Therefore, after the meeting the situation at the front will worsen and the Armenians will suffer yet another loss. This will continue for as long as Sargsyan becomes wiser or leave his post under pressure or opposition, Orujlu believes. According to him, Moscow wants to return Robert Kocharyan to power, as he would be more comfortable for it.
"So the question of the fundamental settlement of the Karabakh problem will not be resolved now. This is possible only with the participation of all the parties involved and, above all, the international community,” Orujlu said. -020 / 3B-
