Foreign Ministry of Azerbaijan: the visit of the M.Caballe to the occupied territories does not contribute to the peace process
The Embassy of Azerbaijan in Madrid passed a note of protest to the Foreign Ministry of Spain due to the illegal visit to the Spanish opera singer, Montserrat Caballe, to the occupied territories of Azerbaijan , according to the spokesman of Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry, Elman Abdullayev.
Caballe visited the occupied territories of Azerbaijan on 4-5 June and met with the leader of Karabakh separatists, Bako Sahakyan.
Abdullayev said that the note of the Azerbaijani embassy indicates illegality of Caballe’s visit the occupied territories of the country without the permission of the authorities of Azerbaijan.
"Her illegal visit is also disrespect to the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Azerbaijan, in violation of international law. These visits only cause damage to the peace process," said Abdullayev.
A number of foreign media misinterpreted the note of Azerbaijani embassy to the Spanish Foreign Ministry as a declaration of Caballe persona non-grata.-06D—
