German Ambassador Visits Goygol and Shamkir
The new German Ambassador to Azerbaijan Michael Kindsgrab on 24-25 October visited the Goygol and Shamkir regions, where the German settlements Elenendorf and Annenfeld were founded at the beginning of the XIX century. During the Second World War, in particular in 1941, the German settlers were deported to Central Asia.
According to the German Embassy, on 24 October, the Ambassador met with the head of the Goygol region Arif Seyidov and exchanged views on the history and development of the region. Kindsgrab also inspected the house and the street, where the first German settlers settled. He also visited the grave of the last German resident of the town, Victor Cline, who died a few years ago. In his house there is a museum of memory of the Germans living in Azerbaijan.
The Ambassador visited the local wine-vodka factory, where he was acquainted with the new production methods. On October 25, Ambassador Kindsgrab visited Shamkir and observed the former church and the historical part of the town. -0 ---
