A political bomb exploded last night on the Internet with the advent of a video, where the former Rector of the International University Elshad Abdullayev was trading with a woman looking like the Member of Parliament Gular Ahmedova. It's about the sum of bribes, which the Rector had to pay to be "elected" as an MP.
Present at the shooting was another woman called Seva, who acted as an intermediary between the negotiating parties, and who negotiated over the price.
As the video clip shows, Elshad Abdullayev agreed to the terms and paid 500,000 (manat or dollars), but then he was told that he had to pay as much again.
The Rector objected to this, arguing that the agreement was about 500,000, and he had already paid the money.
To this the woman looking like Gular Ahmedova required that the Rector paid another 500,000.
"I'm forty years old and I have long been involved in the showdown. You cannot find your kidnapped brother for two years, and I would find him for two months. There are rules of behavior in politics. You should not change them. If I negotiate something, I take the commitment and follow it. Pay another 500 thousand," said the woman resembling Gular Ahmedova.
The Rector responded to this that he would agree to pay 500 thousand, if he was elected head of a parliamentary committee. However, the woman claimed that the head of the committee was Ali Huseynov and no one would change him.
"How can you negotiate with me? I broke the list drawn up by President Ilham Aliyev, and included you in there, and you do not understand!" the outraged woman exclaimed.
The Rector complained that he was made the offer on behalf of the Head of the Presidential Administration Ramiz Mehdiyev, and he fulfilled all the conditions, but the woman replied that she did not work with Mehdiyev, and worked with Aghil (probably meaning the late uncle of the President, Aghil Aliyev). The Rector responded to this, saying he had twice paid money to Aghil, but he was not elected to the Parliament, and he did not want to be trapped for a third time.
Representatives of Gular Ahmedova commented on this video clip, saying that the conversation took place in 2005, but it was about the money of the defrauded students of the International University, and Ahmedova demanded return of the sums.
The authorities are silent about the video clip. Turan applied to the Prosecutor General, but the representative of the body said that so far there was no official comment.
