Heads of parliamentary committees elected
The first session of the parliament of the fifth convocation elected heads of the standing committees of the Parliament. Arif Ragimzade newly elected head of the committee on regional issues. Samad Seyidov retained as head of the committee on international relations and interparliamentary relations. Ali Huseynov was in committee on legal policy and state building issues. First Vice-Speaker Ziyafat Asgarov will continue to lead the committee on defense and security, but now this committee will still be engaged in the fight against corruption. Another vice-speaker Valeh Aleskerov will retain the post of head of the Committee on Natural Resources, Energy and Ecology. The head of the committee on agrarian policy remained Eldar Ibrahimov, and the Economic Policy Committee - Ziad Samedzade.
A number of committees will be headed by new persons. So, the head of the committee on science and education became the vice-president of the Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan Isa Habibbeyli (formerly committee run by former Rector of the Economic University Shamsaddin Hajiyev).
Committee on Culture will head Rafael Huseynov. (Previously, the Committee directed Nizami Jafarov.)
The Human Rights Committee will be headed by Vice-Speaker Bahar Muradova, which replaced Rabiyat Aslanova. In addition, the Parliament established four new committees.
Former rector of the AMU Ahliman Amiraslanov will head the Health Committee. The former rector of the Institute of Teachers Agia Nakhchivanli became head of the committee on family, women and children.
Deputy Executive Secretary of the ruling party "Yeni Azerbaijan" Siyavush Novruzov will lead the committee for public associations and religious organizations; and Fuad Muradov became head of the Committee on Youth and Sport. -06D-

On February 13, the Appeal Court did not satisfy the defense's appeal against the decision of the Khatai Court regarding the arrest of journalist Shahnaz Beylargizi. According to the lawyer, the journalist herself did not participate in the trial due to poor health. The defense intends to submit a petition to replace the arrest with house arrest.
