Ilham Aliyev Celebrates New Year in Shusha
Baku/20,03.21/Turan: On March 20, the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev again arrived in Shusha, where he lit a festive fire on the Jydyr Duzyu (Cıdır Düzü) glade on the occasion of the onset of Novruz.
In his address to the people of the country, he called the liberation of the historical land of Azerbaijan and its cultural center, the city of Shusha, a historical event.
“There was no more important task for us than the liberation of the land. The main merit in this belongs to the Azerbaijani army. Our fighters liberated the city, climbing over rocks, moving through mountains and forests.
In the city itself, they engaged in hand-to-hand combat, using only light weapons against artillery and tanks. These military men deserve the highest praise.
We liberated Shusha at the cost of bloodshed. In the battles for Shusha, hundreds, up to a thousand of invaders were destroyed.
The liberation of Shusha was the culmination of the Patriotic War. It was after this that the enemy signed the act of surrender,” Ilham Aliyev said.
He noted that work on the restoration of Shusha and all other liberated regions of Karabakh has already begun and is actively continuing. “Everything that was destroyed will be restored, and a lot has to be rebuilt, but we have enough strength and desire,” he said. -02B-
