Islamic Party Not to Support Candidate of National Council at Elections
An unexpected decision was adopted by the Islamic Party today, claiming the support at the upcoming presidential elections of the candidacy of the Adalat (Justice) Party chairman, Ilyas Ismayilov.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the Supreme Assembly of the party on Friday, a member of the Assembly of the party, Natig Kerimov told Turan.
According to him, the decision was voted by 24 people, with one against and four abstained.
According to Kerimov, he himself was against such a decision, noting that he is a representative of the Islamic party in the National Council and supports the single candidate from NCDF Jamil Hasanli.
The composition of the National Council has included some of the leaders of the Islamic Party and they also were in favor of the single candidate from the opposition.
The reason for the change in the mood of the leadership of the Islamic Party is still unclear.
It is worth noting that the Islamists have a sufficient social base and influence in Baku settlements, as well as in the southern region of the country. -05B04-
