Jean Claude Mignon: The human rights situation in Azerbaijan is a concern
The situation in Azerbaijan is concerning. This issue was raised at a meeting of the Bureau and will be discussed during the session, said at a press conference in Strasbourg, the PACE President Jean Claude Mignon, when asked whether he had received the appeal of the Azerbaijani opposition to withdraw rapporteurs of the Monitoring Committee on Azerbaijan, for their bias.
"I have not yet received such an appeal, but I am aware of the situation in the country. Such a situation in any country-member of the Organization, causes concern and will be considered.
First of all, the talk is about poor human rights situation," he said.
As for the request to revoke the speakers, this decision cannot be taken only by Mignon, this is a prerogative of the PACE monitoring committee, headed by Andres Herkel, added Mignon. -06В-
